Elision



Elision
          It is normal to omit / delete unstressed sound segment / phoneme in connected / rapid speech.  We omit the phoneme within the words or across  word boundary.  For examples:
          interesting              /'IntərəstIŋ/                     /'IntrəstIŋ/
          handsome              /hӕndsəm/                      /'hӕnsəm/
          butter and bread     /'bΛtə(r) ənd breId /        /'bΛtənbreId/
          hope of life            /həUp əv laIf/                             /'həUpəlaIf/
          debt                      /debt/                              /det/
          doubt                     /daUbt/                            /daUt/
          debut                     /debju:t/                         /'debju:/
          bouquet                 /bUkeIt/                           /bU'keI/
          a bunch of grapes    /ə bΛnʧ əv greIps/          /ə'bΛnʧə'greIps/
