It is used to express the fact and habit in
the past with a time expression.
To express the Simple Past Tense in
questions, we use the root verb in
question using ‘did / didn’t’

The Simple Past tense of the auxiliary
verbs ‘do / does’ is ‘did’. The
auxiliary verbs ‘do / does / did’ are
always followed by a root verb.
