Topic 28      Simple Past Tense in questions      (?)

It is used to express the fact and habit in the past with a time expression.
To express the Simple Past Tense in questions,  we use the root verb in question using ‘did / didn’t’

      Did    S      V  ……………..?

     [ Jack ] sang well yesterday.
     Did [ Jack] sing well yesterday?

     [ Meena ] walked a lot yesterday.
     Did [ Meena ] walk a lot yesterday?

     [ The cat ] ate a lot last Saturday.
      Did [ the cat ] eat a lot last Saturday?

     [ The children ] screamed loudly yesterday.
     Did [ the children ] scream loudly yesterday?

     [ You ] ran a lot yesterday afternoon.
     Did [ I ] run a lot yesterday afternoon?

The Simple Past tense of the auxiliary verbs ‘do / does’ is ‘did’.  The auxiliary verbs ‘do / does / did’  are always followed by a root verb.

Change the following statements into questions.
